Just to inform everybody a new version of Elohai is in Development and the
database is going to be MYSQL 5!

this will be good news as MYSQL is a very stabe backend. However if its going to be FREE
or not is the question!

If its going to be free it will be donation based. if it NOT free it will only cost us 30USD

8:19am: More outsourcing Projects (Elohai's Admin Password is redjar)

Hello Everyone!

It has been two week of ups and downs. Firstly i "restructured" my "business" our programmer and our sales gone.. financially and time-wise we could not afford to update elohai everyweek any longer. My Business is going broke. but hey i'll come back and will come back strong!

Sencondly, We did some client courting. we hope they would buy the Pro Version of Elohai. The clients came from retail to wholesale and manufacuting. None of them called me so far :(

Lastly, I just want to say we are REALLY an outsourcing company and Elohai is free so businesses would try it first and then would outsource to us. That is really the plan. But we do have clients who are outsourcing to us.

Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart to all who helped and took interest in Elohai. thank you to those who subscribed to the news letter. dont "unsubscribe" yet there would be more to come!

Sometimes i go to the National Bookstore and not really buy the books there but read some of them.So I recently tried Google's Book Search and it works like a charm! i mean the concept is great libraries around the world let you borrow books from them.

Its been a busy week we recently done a presentation to a possible client outside town.
Well were convincing them to use Elohai instead of quick books. One point i made out is that Quick Books is overwhelmingly complicated to the usual business manager. Elohai is Simplistic and more "usable". Although Quick books has graphs and pie charts we will surely put those in elohai too.

Yesterday we received some requests for elohai.

First is the Reversability of Forms. when the user makes an encoding mistake it should get reversed. we decided we should put an Inventory Adjustment Entry so that we could add or less inventory encoding errors.

PROFIT/LOSS BALANCE  REPORT
 - I would like to know how would be the rows and columns of this report.

AMOUNT DUE TO SUPPLIERS BY PARTICULAR WEEKS/MONTHS
    - This as i understand would be the aging report of payables to suppliers.

ABILITY TO RENAME REPORTS
    - Feature approved next patch

ABILITY TO CHANGE DATE DISPLAY FORMAT M-D-Y OR D-M-Y
    - Feature approved next patch

ABILITY TO CHANGE EXPLORER LOGO TO "IDENTIFY" PRODUCT
    - quite vague.

Our Target Deadline for these features is on June 5,06

So there you please do not be dissapointed for the lack of updates for this week.
We are doing our best to improve Elohai at the same time trying to survive in the increasing costs of electricity in our office. we are trying to get clients in our area to support its development. Elohai is Free and it will stay free you can use Elohai for your home or small business. Even if we go bankrupt (God Forbid) I will surely continue to improve elohai because its all based on free services.

This week we released a patch finally for the most requested feature. Changing the admin password and deleting the old "Randy's Fruit store". We wish we would know if Elohai is being used or not so we could enhance it more. we are receiving email on how to do this and that but we wonder if it is really getting used everyday or so.

For the next batch of update we are developing a report in costing

Greetings!

It is recommended that you must
UNINSTALL your previous installation
of Elohai Free Accounting.

Make sure you BACKUP c:\elohai\elohai.mdb so your records
wont be lost. e.g right click the file and send to Desktop.

What are the new Features of this installer?
  - Delete all records now fixed.

  You can now remove Randy's Fruit Store's Records.

  On the Startup screen. to the bottom right click the
  "Configure Button".

  Next, within the "I want to" look for the
  "Delete all records and start a new one"
  Click the "Delete now" button.
   
  - Change the Admin Password

  As Requested by many we added this feature so users can protect their data

  Again on the Configure window, look for the "Change the Admin Password"
  and click "Change It".
       
Known Issues

  - Still unknown "Transaction Not Connected" is still unresolved.

Hello and a belated happy mothers day to all mothers! I wish everyone had a good weekend. A Smile on a mother's face when you greet them "Happy Mother's day" is priceless! you'll see them on their face its heartwarming. Its like giving them a pat on the back and saying to them "Good work"! Being a mother must be the most important job in the world. They give us warmth a person to run to when were as scared as little kids. Even when the most horrible storm comes into our town our mother makes us feel that theres nothing to worry "ill cook soup".

Elohai news
Today's Elohai news we recently release an installer that would fix the missing manual bug. It was reported on Windows XP and recently during our testing it also happens on all windows versions. You can download the patch on the downloads section of the site. However the "transaction not connected" error some experience would still be in pending! we assume everyone has MS Office installed and its a mistake. Apparently Elohai needs MS Access to run but we will pursue to fix it this week. Thanks very much for your help.

Well i have to yet to meet a billionaire personally, but i have met 2 women who are in their 90's. One even gets a chance to hug and kiss her great grand child once a week. if i mean if i would choose between dying at 70 or getting 20 extended years. Id prefer the extra 20 no doubt! I rather trade my Lexus to another 20 years of my life if its even possible. Being old and still poor would be one of my fears in life. But maybe having that would give me extra 5 years who knows.

And so i wish you good luck in your dreams whatever they are! Never give up and take a chance!

We would like to announce the new patch for elohai (May 13,2006) Download it now

This patch fixes the following bugs:

1. Missing manual/help.hlp file which was first reported here

2. Inventory Ledger incorrect results.

However if you downloaded elohai later than May 13,2006 (+800 gmt) from a shareware site we updated the installer from there. So you wont need to update the installer.

I'm so Excited! I got a check from the the company we've been developing. the Truck scale Monitoring program we have developed is done 100%
So we received a check. Not that big though, I know a few who employees that can cash in like that from an ATM.

Well im still excited because:

(*Grins) Im happy not only about getting a check but i was ultimately excited that the job was done!

We did some major uploading to shareware sites. So major we did it by hand! i mean we went to shareware sites and we publish Elohai Free Accounting manually! there are free services that do the bloody work there but elohai is freeware! so we have to do everything for free.

There are some events that happen in our lives that we feel very happy about something. you know events like winning an award or getting a raise. But there are some events that we should also convince ourselves that we shouldn't be all that happy about it? Like for example we received 5 star awards from http://www.freetrialsoft.com


But dont get me wrong there, were grateful to receive an award! but try browsing any software in that site and everyone gets 5 stars and editors choice if i ment everyone i mean everone even the crappiest software you'll see. First i felt wow great! we got an award! now lets tell the whole world about it. so i did, i told my friends my family. i even posted a blog about it. but now i feel really guilty that its just a 5 star promotional award. (i would use "fake award" but that just sounds bad)

About our pursuit to Google Page ranking, i think google is mean on us. i have many backlinks pointing to my site but google doesnt report it! why so? yahoo and msn does and why not google? oh well i think im still in the sandbox.

About the future of elohai, developing a PRO or GOLD versions is the way to go. we would still update Elohai Free Accounting. but in order to pay our electricity bills and other stuff we need source of income to continually support the development of elohai. See the internet is a great balancer or things think of limewire
its totally free but not as good as the PRO version of it. their product came from scratch now they are now the present  Napster.

Hello Friends!

Here again are some news about Elohai.
Elohai's Inventory Ledger is finished! my co programmer finished up the inventory ledger and summary reports on friday but its still a candidate for release. i still need to do my work that is to QA the update. i shall post an update for the patch.

Last week we got busy with the Truck Scale Sales Program we just implemented. Yes its a enormous weighing for 10 wheeler trucks and container vans.

as our internet marketing efforts has been concluded. we would try our next move in direct selling elohai. i had done this before which is time consuming and HOT considering the philippine weather in the summertime. i rather choose hot weather for direct selling rather than rain :D our targets are accountants, accounting students and this organization that are in the area. well wish me good luck!

Hello Everyone!

A happy easter to all! i wish you had a pleasant weekend and im so excited about the development of the project Elohai Free accounting! As of today exactly 1 week after the release of the software. We had already received 15 downloads well thats including 1 download from me :P

I would like to also announce to everyone that we have 7 subscribers on the email and feedburner rss service!

In addition, we are excerting our fullest marketing effort to inform more people that the software exists. I am sorry if i had made some unsolicited marketing to groups/people some did perceive it as spam but if you request not hear our advertisment we would not post it no further to you or your group and I sincery apologize.

On the other hand, Elohai does have few features and Inventory is just what it does at the moment. But we do actually have plans for the future of the software. For example,new sections like Accounts Payables/Receivables. More reports such as, Chart of accounts, Income statement Balance Sheet and more! but we do need inputs from you the users if you would be kind to inform us of what would it take for you to use the software in your business tell us! comment on this article just below the link below

Sadly, on this week I would be really busy because I am doing 7 kinds of forms for our old client. it would be impossible to have the time to update the software by myself. But I am certain that my co-programmer would be able to finish the two reports Inventory Ledger and Inventory Ledger Summary and another update on the Other Services form so the user would be able to choose the date!

Lastly we promise to incorporate charts and graphs on the existing reports in elohai so it would really look purdy!

So that concludes this update of Elohai! I cant imagine that it got this long! 30 mins ago before i started writing i said to myself. "(Sigh) what would i write now.." i didnt expect the article it to be like this! 2:57am: Internet Connection woes. Weekly Updates for Elohai

Hello everyone! 

Its time for another batch of updates in Elohai. and we are happy to report that all is well and were going to meet the target date. It was a really busy week, our client a Feed Mill company has been so demanding in our time but we still gave some for Elohai. and our internet connection was down all week thanks to PLDT's service up until now we still dont have any internet. its a really annoying thing. we called twice a day and they keep saying a service person will come but nobody comes. but anyway, here are the updates for Elohai!

Inventory Ledger and Inventory Ledger Summary - Important reports for the inventory. These reports determine the status of your inventory. We are still doing these reports but we are sure it would be finished on the release date

Reset Database and database backup - While we still are figuring out how to incorporate these features in Elohai. We are determined to finish these on time.

Form Icons - As we put in the Desktop and icon metaphor in the system. we managed to put icons in the system so as to be lookin good. and were sure were the best looking accounting interface in the market.

Tutorial - the only feature that was finished. Now were not really sure how the tutorial is effective since we haven't really tested it on people (especially managers) I wish though we have alot of budget for the usability. we would like to know how our features on user friendliness is effective

And there you go, Elohai is up and right on target. Expect a release on April 17! thats next week. were really excited about it!

9:10am: Simplified Software is important
Greetings everyone!

Its a monday and its time for another update on elohai's journal! A big thanks to those who subscribed! not that many but im still glad there are people interested in the project.

Elohai is doing well its going to be released on the 24th of april 2006. We still need to provide some elements in the tutorial. We think the tutorial is very important. While the accounting process needs more work, a good foundation on user friendliness is a priority or else the product wont get used.

Most of the accounting software in the market lacks one important thing. A good and intuitive interface. Thats why we provide our best efforts to build an intuitive interface. I think that all software should be all intuitive. PC games treat their users like they are the "center of the universe". Upon start up they provide you with a basics tutorial, then some more intermediate tutorial. Until you figure out how to play the game. Not only tutorials are whats good its also the UI the responsiveness of the interface. the way it adds help in case you get lost.

Imagine if accounting or any business software UI's are similar to pc games! i know it would be nice to have.
Thats what elohai aims to do.

One good blog site that discusses this matter is UI Hall of Shame

 in this blog they talk about the worst UI they could find. Developers and non-developers there might learn and get entertained at the same time.

On a personal note, at times it comes to my mind to go back to being employed. Coming back to where the certainty of having a pay check is. But i dont, its because its one of my dreams to have a successful software company. Its just comes down to instinct. if I truly believe about the work that i do ill continue doing it. I always imagine about a bull that is charging at the red cape. no turning back, just go ahead and do it :)

So that in mind i just wanna say good luck to you and watch out for the release of elohai in april 24, 06'

well i was watching an old movie about some students who went to an agricultural school. i was wondering about the pre-need educational plans like pacific http://www.pacificplans.com/ who is in financial trouble. there is another company CAP http://www.cap.com.ph/ but im not sure of they're situation

well for those who don't have an idea, these plans are invented in the Philippines. They're like retirement plans that as parents you invest a monthly payment and after 15 years you can avail the college fund for your child. isnt it a brilliant idea right? well its really a problem now. before in the 80's when this system is thought about. There is a cap on the inflation of tuition fee for universities its at 10%. But soon after, almost a year, our government decided to deregulate tuition fee's. big mistake all non-state universities raised the tuition fee cost to 30-40%.

pacific plans were in deep trouble now, first of all they were unable to liquidate some of the assets to pay the planholders. of course the system like all traditional plans dont just put the funds in a bank at 6-8% interest rate. they invest it in stocks or properties like condominiums and some others.

the planholders are enraged. Their children are not sure if they could even go to college.

i also believe its a way to encourage the people not to save. It's the "bahala na (live and let live)" mentality. yeah i know, everything is expensive most of us can't save we even have debts. Gas prices, electricity, basic commodities are rising. but is it? or is your lifestyle is expensive to maintain? i still believe if most couples try to live a life of thrift and compulsive saving. instead of that "showing you're rich type" you dont need any company for you to depend on retirement or educational plan.

Hello!

We have updated some minor changes in Elohai.



First of, we changed the log in screen so that it would look like a commercial software! (we hope so). We did some coloring too.. adding orange to some of the design.



Then we put some nice pictures coming from the clark hot air baloon festival in clarkfield, pampanga

The above screenshot shows the pictire from the home screen.  you may also notice we put some hot links in the screen. that is to short cut the process of finding the forms you would like









Next is the Receiving Entry we tweaked it so it would make users to add a new record easily we placed a new button next to the search button.










Lastly we decided to put the help file and make it very visible how to get help. it has a nice button next to save
